Solar Panels Designed Around Your Roof
The panels are the most important part of any solar PV system, and they’re what make or break your investment. That's why we design each system for maximum energy generation, regardless of the size, shape and direction of your roof.
Whether you’re upgrading old-style blue panels or installing a brand new system, we usually recommend SunPower because they're among the most reliable and highest-performing solar panels available, and because their solid-copper foundation and all-black design suit the character of Sussex homes better than most. Why Choose Savent Solar?
We’re ready now to install solar panels across Sussex

We design bespoke solar PV systems based on your needs. Many installers want simple projects with cookie-cutter designs, but we know that flint cottages, listed buildings, dormers, hips and awkward angles are the norm, not the exception, in Sussex.
We assess your roof, shading, orientation and existing wiring in person before recommending panels and battery storage to match your needs and budget. If you like the quote, the same team will install your system, register it with the DNO and provide full aftercare and support.
Our solar experts travel across East and West Sussex for residential and commercial installations in all the major towns and cities including:
Brighton & Hove
Chichester
Eastbourne
Seaford
Worthing
Haywards Heath
Horsham
Burgess Hill
Arundel

0% VAT on Solar Panels until 2027

Solar panels are currently exempt from VAT until 31st March 2027. After this date, they will be liable for a reduced rate of 5%. This makes 2026 the ideal time to save money and reduce your bills.
The exemption also applies to other Energy Saving Materials (ESMs) such as solar batteries, heat pumps, wind and water turbines, insulation, and various heating or water control systems. In all cases, they need to be bought and installed via a VAT-registered contractor (which we are), and it only applies to residential installations.

Contact UsSolar Panel FAQs
How many solar panels do I need?
Usually between 8 and 12 panels, as most family homes use between 3,000 and 4,000 kWh per year, and therefore need a 4kW to 5kW system. Modern panels are significantly more efficient for a given size, so you may not need as many.
However, it depends on your power usage, which direction your roof faces, how much sunlight it gets throughout the day, and the type of panel you choose. Also, if you run a heat pump or regularly charge an EV, you may need a larger system. Is it worth upgrading my solar panels?
It’s often worth upgrading to new solar panels, but it depends on factors like your current usage, whether you have battery storage, and how old your current panels are. For example, if you have the old-style blue panel and you find that you can’t generate enough power for your needs, upgrading could make financial sense, especially if you have a small roof. Likewise, older panels also lose efficiency over time, and you might find they’re coming to the end of their useful life.
Do I need more solar panels if I have a battery?
Not normally. However, if you find that your panels don’t generate enough power to meet your daily needs and/or keep the battery full, you may need to upgrade or add more. You can charge a battery at a cheap rate overnight, but this will eat into the savings you make by switching to solar.
Do solar panels work in winter and on cloudy days?
Yes, modern solar panels work very well on cloudy days and during shorter winter days. They still perform best in clear, sunny weather, but they'll generate plenty of power year-round.
What about plug-in solar panels?
Plug-in solar panels can be ideal for renters or people who live in flats, but they’re not a viable alternative to a roof-mounted solar PV system. We’ve covered whether Plug-in Solar Panels Are Worth It in more detail in our recent blog post.
